What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to remove hair around your body.

During the procedure, a laser will emit a light that is absorbed by the melanin in your hair. The light energy is converted into heat, which will inhibit and delay future hair growth.

Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair in areas such as the face, leg, back, chin, arm, underarm, bikini, etc.

A few of the main benefits of laser hair removal include:

• Each pulse of the laser takes only a fraction of a second and can treat several strands of hair at one time. To give you more context, the laser can treat the hair in the upper lip in less than a minute. Larger areas such as the back or legs may take up to an hour or so.
• Lasers can target dark, coarse hair while leaving the surrounding skin untouched.
• After around three to seven sessions, most patients experience permanent hair loss in the targeted areas.

Laser resurfacing effectively reduces facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, such as acne scars and blemishes.

Laser resurfacing focuses pulsating beams of light on affected areas, accurately removing skin layer by layer.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Resurfacing?

You may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing if you have wrinkles around your eyes, mouth, or on your forehead. Laser resurfacing may also be suitable for you if you have shallow scars due to acne.

If you currently have a significant amount of acne or you have very dark skin, you may not be a candidate for laser resurfacing.
